The WP Events Calendar Team is happy to announce the release of a beta version of  EC 6.6.

This release fixes many issues that were reported by our users. The major one being the problems people faced with WP 2.8.

EC is now compatible with the most recent version of WordPress, a.k.a WP 2.8.4.

This is a beta release. That means that you folks have a job to do: testing this plugin and trying to kill it. And then, when you’ve done the assassination operation, make sure to write a complete report about your exploit in the bug tracker so we can resuscitate the poor thing.

On a more serious note, we have tried to make EC more robust so we can wait for the next generation Heirem is going to provide.

These are the issues we fixed:

  • WPEC is now WP 2.7 and 2.8 ready. This fixes issues #20, #21 and #38.
  • Fixed issue #16: Larger description in textarea.
  • Fixed issue #17: Consistency with WP plugin UI conventions
  • Fixed issue #18: displayLarge uses $options before it is set.
  • Fixed issue #22: Click for more info not working
  • Fixed issue #27: Events not showing on widget in public view.
  • Fixed issue #29: Firefox reported 2 errors.
  • Fixed issue #31: Start / End Times do not appear to take start / end date into consideration.
  • Fixed issue #32: Tooltips doesn’t show correctly when there is a large amount of text in the description. This is partly resolved in fact. The tooltip will grow larger depending on the text size but a very large amount of text will still show this problem. I would suggest making a post if you have too much text.
  • Fixed issue #34: Wrong timezone: US (am/pm) vs. European time.
  • Fixed issue #37: Ajax character set problems with Spanish language (and other too for sure).
  • Fixed issue #40: Post titles are incorrect when they contain an ‘.
  • Fixed issue #42: Conflict with Register Plus plugin. pluggable.php is a BAD THING! When we start doing reminders and stuff like that, we may need to override some of these functions which will again break compatibility.
  • Fixed issue #45: Showing incorrect day.
  • Fixed issue #46: Widget in Sidebar will not change to Calendar view .
  • Fixed issue #48: WordPress Database Error: invalid SQL syntax.
  • Fixed issue #52: spacing between line too close.
  • Fixed issue #56: Thickbox and ‘moving’ WordPress.
  • Added license file and comments.
  • Adapted the readme.txt file to the latest spec from wordpress.org

We hope you enjoy it.

  3. Thomas says:

Thanks for the update! Your hard work is definitely appreciated.
One problem: when using the widget, all images on the page are replaced with loading.gif (which looks pretty psychedelic). To solve this I removed all the lines that contain “loading.gif” in ec_js.class.php, most importantly the last one that does the preloading. This also gets rid of the little animation, but so be it.
    But again: great work!
    Cheers,
    Thomas

  4. Thomas says:

I found another problem: in WP 2.8.4. I can’t drag and drop widgets any more after activating the plugin.

  5. elena says:

    Hi,
I use wordpress 2.8.4 and I’ve just upgrade the calendar (I was waiting for it!!) but it doesn’t work…I can’t add an event. I don’t see the calendar icon near the start and end date and the clock icon doesn’t work, i can’t select an hour of start and end of event and even if I wrote them by my hands and I push the button “add event” it doesn’t work, no events added. What can I do!? thank you!!

  6. MeG says:

This beta version has issues with WPMU on multiple sites. When activated on second site it does not navigate past one month each way, as the monthly navigation links don’t show up.

  7. sam says:

HI there, great news this plugin is updated!. First bug tho: neither the time picker or date picker are popping up upon click. Using wp 2.8.4

    Cheers!

  8. Chris Heuer says:

had a problem with 6.5.5.3 where on load of the sidebar widget and the include of small listings, ec replaced all the images on the page with an animated loading.gif, but it worked really well, in ways I hadnt even seen before otherwise

really psyched to see all the improvements you guys have been putting in on top of getting this up to speed with latest version

but the last update for 6.6 created this error

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: ec_widget in /homepages/32/d136593218/htdocs/socialmediaclub/blog/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/events-calendar.php on line 169

  9. Carina says:

    Hello,

I love this plugin! But at the latest update it interferred with all my images hosted. They were replaced by big grey bars that seemed to be loading. The images never show and when I deactivated the plugin the images came back.

    Just thought I’d mention it.

    Love,
    Carina

  10. Averell says:

I have upgraded the calendar but i am now unable to drag it into the sidebar to use as a widget? In fact I am unable to drag any of my widgets across, but as soon as i deactivate the events calender everything else returns to normal.

    Please help, Thanks

  11. UMPDOUBS4 says:

    Same problem here…

  12. Chas says:

Hi, I’m sure you’re on it, but just wanted to add that I’m having the same problem as Averell. Thanks!

  13. Randall says:

I’m seeing similar problems.. Enabling the Events Calendar plugin breaks all of the javascript functionality _after_ the events-calendar rolldown in the sidebar.. I can’t expand/collapse any of the dashboard entries, and when editing posts it breaks the entire sidebar.. Can’t use tags, set future dates, etc.. It’s all broken.

  14. Patrick says:

I installed this plugin and it changed -every- image on the blog to the calendar loading image (…/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/images/loading.gif)

  15. Jessica Lee says:

Love the plug-in, but I have just installed it and it is making all of the images on my page show a loading gif (/plugins/events-calendar/images/loading.gif) instead of the image. Why is this happening? All images are directly linked to the images folder in my theme, so it shouldn’t be a problem…

  16. Porush jain says:

same here !! as Averall help!

  17. Joakim says:

I am seeing the same thing. Seems to be a jQuery conflict.

  18. mark says:

well i still have the same bug i had ,and i had to fix it again like i commented in the bug tracker (to remove the loading.gif pic to appear instead of the site’s pics when in calendar mode..) other than that no problems with it so far :)

  19. sam says:

hi there, the date/time select popups are not working in this version

    thanks

  20. Ned says:

I have having the same problem that Averell is having. A temporary fix is to deactivate the calander move widgets and re-activate. Not the best but it works for now.

This happened right after the update.

  21. Murray says:

I’m afraid the latest (beta) version of the events calendar broke all my graphics links on the site. I found that by checking the jQuery Extrem Protection in the Events Calendar options page, the graphics would load, though the calendar would not display any events.

I then noticed that the comments link on blog posts was disabled. After playing with all the comments settings I could find I discovered that the now disabled but still active events calendar was causing this. Only after I deactivated the events calendar, would the comments link work.

    All this on wordpress 2.8.4.

  22. MagnetiCat says:

We have got the same problem here on a client’s website.

  23. Fred says:

I have the same problem. In fact I can’t use this plugin at the moment. I hope you can fix this problem soon, because it is an excellent plugin. Thanks!!

  24. Björn Granberg says:

I have the same problem as Averell. Activating the plugin means the widgets are impossible to drag. Deactivate it and everything returns to normal. I did a check på turning on and off the plugins I have installed in the theme where I use the calendar plugin and it’s definitely this plugin that conflicts with the widgets drag function.
    Help?
    Cheers!

  25. squidder says:

Hey, wanted to put this in the forums but posting a thread is not strait forward (at least for me :/ ) Any rate there are some issues with the 6.6 release that are pointed out here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/308372 . Pulled my hair out for a couple of hours trying to fix this. I can verify that the fixes andrewtf put forward do work. The main issue would be that jquery.clockpick.min.js needs to be renamed jquery.clockpick.1.2.7.js and the recent copy of this file used.

  26. Dennis L Hitzeman says:

I upgraded to the new version and discovered that, for some reason, when the calendar view is enabled for the widget, none of the other graphics on the site will download (they show up as pulsating gray boxes).

Also, I noticed that when I upgraded, some location text had all of the spaces removed.

I will try to get this into the bug tracker, but I did not have time to sign up for an account right now.

If I downgrade to a previous version, are there any database issues I should be aware of?

  27. Flossip says:

Wowza. It wouldn’t show as a calendar in my sidebar, I went in to update the settings. All of a sudden all my .img files were flashing gray. As soon as I deactivated my events calendar it went normal again– this was a pretty important plug in to my site.

  28. James says:

Any news on when this will be stable? I’ve got a blog stuck in 2.7.2 that can’t be upgraded until this is ready for production… And there’s a huge wordpress worm out there now infecting blogs under 2.8.3!

  29. 8unni says:

I still can’t click the date for more info. Pls help with this. TX

  30. Randall says:

    No word on this yet?

  31. Randall says:

To anyone else experiencing this problem, edit your events-calendar.php file and comment out the two lines references jquerydimensions.js (wp_enqueue_script(‘jquerydimensions.js’ blah blah blah). That returns all functionality.

There’s some odd collision going on there.

  32. Hungry Eyeball says:

Once I upgraded, I was not able to add tags to my posts. I have reverted to the later version and it’s fine, now. But my widget is not able to save it’s name setting and only displays the message, “Events are coming soon, stay tuned!” when I have listed upcoming events.

  33. Hawkeegn says:

I have the plugin installed on the STC Silicon Valley Chapter site. Before I added the update, I was unable to add times (in hr and minute format) to any event I posted on the calendar. But the calendar itself was visible. After installing the update, the calendar has vanished and only one event is visible.

  34. Johan Ronström says:

Nice plugin. But the calendar somehow changes my sites header image to the loading animation image.. I haven’t been able to find the JS that does this, the header is in H1-tags with no class nor ID.

    here is the page: http://etnologi.nu/?page_id=70

Go to any other page on the site to see the real header image. It is not a widget, but the code snippet from the description pasted into the index file of the theme.

  35. millybreak says:

    Couldn’t get 6.6-beta started.
First it wouldn’t install through the WP (2.8.4) automatic plugin install. Probably too large, so manual download and upload.
    Then activating was impossible:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 54 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/wijkkloosterveen.nl/httpdocs/wp-includes/pomo/entry.php on line 49.

I do not have any earlier versions of EC installed; this was my first try.

  36. Conlan says:

I’ve got the same widget problem.

  37. madda says:

    hello there ^^
    great job on this plugin.

I tried to use it on a new guildhp, but there it makes a mysteries error.
When i activate the plugin, different pictures on the site are shown as the little loaderpicture when you’re switching the months.

    Any idea of this?

  39. madda says:

sry 4 spam, just wanted to let you know, that it’s enough to get the widget out of the sidebar to get rid of the problem, don’t have to deaktivate the hole plugin.

  40. Kim says:

I have the same problem with suddenly I can’t use the widgets draging at all. Also, I tried to add the calendar widget and then none of the images on my home page would load. It seemed to work fine for me on 2.8.4. (I wish I hadn’t upgraded). Is there a way to install the previous version of this instead?

  41. Eddie says:

When choosing the option to create a blog post for an event, is there any way to add a category to that blog post when the event is being created? This would be a really nice (presumably simple to implement) feature.

  42. David H says:

Hi, I have got the same problem – can’t drag it over. So I have disabled the widget end of it and I am just using the page.

I have gone to WP 2.8.4 because of the risks involved in not doing so.

Many thanks for a great plug-in.

    David

  43. Dave says:

When I upgraded to this my thickbox stopped working in NextGen Gallery and on the site front-end in general. I’ll have to downgrade so I can get that to work now. Seems to be a jquery error related to this plugin in its new version.

  44. Dave says:

Scratch my last comment – it was because I had “extreme protection” clicked in the jquery options. That caused the error.

    Seems to be working now!

  45. laplix says:

I am very, very sorry about that!

I’ll try to take care of all the issues next Friday… well next weekend (it’s probably going to take mucho time).

My computer crashed on me two days after I released 6.6. I lost practically everything: passwords (well, these were saved on gmail but without the password and gspace… and no, I don’t have a CD/DVD writer), bookmarks, plugins, (some) backups, my virtual hosts (where I was keeping all my versions)…, lots of config stuff…

I don’t know what happened. It looked like a disk crash, but after many restarts, somehow, it seemed to work again. I reinstalled the W thinghy over it and got a boot (lost my Ubuntu stuff though). But I had to reinstall lots of software.

I have been rebuilding my machine these last 2 weeks. FYI, I have been saving money these last few months. I still need to put a few $$$ away but I’m almost there and as soon as possible, I’ll buy a new machine and make it totally virtual. So, if one virtual server ever crashes, I’ll still be able to provide support. But “right” now, I’m stuck with this 7 years old dinosaur (did do the job though!) and have to rebuild it.

I’ll be back next Friday (I only work 3 days/week) and will try to address all issues.

Please, if possible, try to submit an issue to the bug tracker with all possible data. If you can provide steps to reproduce the error, that would be a huge help (plugins, themes, etc.).

Sorry again for my lack in answering.

    Laplix

  46. Simon says:

GOOD NEWS – finally the thick box works properly in IE

BAD NEWS – The images on my site get replaced by the loading gif – anyone have any ideas whats causing it? I am most confused :(

  47. Jessica Lee says:

I have switched to using the “event list” type of this plug-in in my sidebar, but the event links in the widget don’t work. How can I fix this? Otherwise the plug-in is perfect, so please help!

  48. darrell says:

The jQuery preload images on the page that has the widget is replacing all images on my page with the loading.gif.

  49. Kat says:

Hi guys, we are lovign your calendar but wondering whether you can have a look at what’s happening with the mini calendar sidebar widget. It does something strange to all images on the same page. it replaces all images with the loading gif located here /wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/images/loading.gif

    sample here
    http://node17.myserverhosts.com/~dhsvad/students/

please help as this site needs to go live ASAP

Also having heaps of problems with the admin section (add events) in IE 8, keeps hanging itself or not even showing, works fine in google chrome, safari and firefox.

Thanks for a great plug-in. Any help appreciated

  50. Rob says:

To date, the best solution I found was to revert to the previous version and manually add the widget to the sidebar.

Here it is in more detail.

    1) Download the previous version available here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/events-calendar/download/
    2) Deactivate and delete the plug-in in wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/
    3) Upload and activate the plug-in.
    4) Do not use the sidebar widget though the wordpress sidebar organizer, but instead, open the sidebar.php file and copy paste the code just before the Widgetized sidebar code.

It’s not exactly an eloquent solution but to the visitor, it’s pretty much if not exactly the same experience as before.

  51. Rob says:

Sorry, the code got swallowed up and didn’t display, here it is again

    (Smaller than)? sidebarEventsCalendar();?(Larger than)

  52. Ruben says:

    Hi Paplix,

    Running WP 2.8.4
    Installed your plugin 6.6-beta

As soon as I activated, I lost the ability to drag plugins “seamingless”. On ocassion, the Event Calendar plugin dragged over, but I didn’t get the usual “dotted line” placement cue, it just placed it on the bottom of list. Once there, I am not able to expand to see settings. Lastly, while it appears to have moved it over to my sidebar, it doesn’t save.

Sooo…looks like a great widget but messes up key functionality for managing widgets.

Looking forward for fix and I can understand your PC problems — been there!

    Thank you for your work.

  53. Ryan Kennedy says:

I had to upgrade for security reasons and now javascript doesn’t work in the editing screens.

I’ve narrawed it down to your plugin causing this.

  54. pete says:

I am guessing there is no news on the fixes for the drag widget issues and more importantly the lack of ability to add events in IE as the add events section under the calender is not showing at all!

  55. Nick says:

I’ve updated my version to the beta version. I’m not able to add any new event. That tells me there is errors on the page. After this try, the add event tab disapears.

  56. neontrauma says:

    Hej,

same here, 6.6 caused a problem with the javascript all over the blog and the dashboard.

and I got another problem: as 6.6 didn’t work, I downgraded to the former version – but that one doesn’t work anymore, too. The sidebar shows only that “stay tuned”-message and after removing the LIMIT $num in the ec_db.class.php (what someone posted as a quick’n'dirty-hack for that problem on the bugtracker) only the list is shown in the widget, the calendar’s not working. *hum*

  59. mog says:

At first thanks for all the effort you’ve put into the calender, I think most people just hit and run – we shouldn’t forget that actual manpower has been put into it :)

Nontheless I’ve found a bug when the calender is used in a non YYYY-MM-DD environment. At the prompt for a new event it asks for DD-MM-YYYY, input however is taken as YYYY-MM-DD which results in events beeing placed in 20th September 2022 instead of placing it at 22th September 2009.

    Kind regards!

  60. David Guzman says:

There are several bugs that I encountered with this plug-in. It causes some feature NOT to work in the administration area of word-press.

    I will list them here:
    1. In the dashboard area, the grey header bars will NOT toggle at ALL(open or close).
    2. In the widgets area, the widgets will NOT drag at all.
    3. Once I click on the preview button, it will NOT preview the changes at ALL, only when I click on the update button it will.

I like this plug-in A LOT, but I had to deactivate it for these features to function correctly. Please have these bugs rectified as soon as you can.

    Your dedicated word-press person,
    David

  61. Joel says:

I installed events calendar and when I activate it, none of the images on my site work anymore, they all show a loading image, when I deactivate it, the problem goes away. Also, need recurring events, otherwise its not going to work for me.

Seems like a cool tool otherwise

  62. Stefano Picco says:

There is a bug with the Wordpress tag-function, if I add a new article or edit one, I can’t add tags. If the WP Events Calender PlugIn is deactivated, it works.

My actual workaround is to add the tags via quickedit.

    WP Version 2.8.4

  63. John says:

This plugin kills the widget drag-and-drop functionality on 2.8.4 when its activated.

  64. Jack Elliot says:

I am having a small problem with my Thickbox plugin after installing/activating Event Calendar. In short, I am using a modified Thickbox.js to remove the padding inside the box, however, after installing EC, that padding is restored. Also, there is a rectangular gray box showing up during the Thickbox loading graphic screen, which uses a custom GIF.

  65. Colin says:

Just installed v6.6 I wish I hadn’t it screwed up all the images on my site. The images initially load for about a second and are then replaced with the loading graphic. This is for NextGen Gallery and ordinary embedded photos. As soon as I disable the plug-in everything is fine again. Where is the old version available for downloading so that I can revert please?

  66. peggy says:

Yeah, I came to find out whether I was the only one that was having problem with the widget drag-and-drop when the plugin was activated.

I’m running Wordpress 2.8.4, with Events Calendar 6.6 and using the Vigilance 1.40 theme.

This is a brand new blog, and the only other plugin I have is Askimet.

I don’t see the plugin interfering with pages loading or graphics in the header or sidebar.

  67. peggy says:

And I posted too soon – adding the Event Calendar code ( ) to my sidebar file messes up all the header and sidebar graphics.

  68. Soeren says:

I kept the nonfuctional calender after I upgraded WP, waiting for WPEC to get a upgrade as well. This means it’s still in the sidebar. It is possible to put in data in the calender and add any information. It just don’t show on the calender on the homepage. It is completely blank for apointments when looking at it from a visitors point of view. No problem with the pictures.

  69. Eckhard says:

    Use a wordpress 2.8.4. DE

I can not activate the plugin, i got a error message (http error). After that i could not work again with my wordpress installation. I deleted the plugin with ftp (other way not possible), what eliminated the problem.

When will a new version available?

  70. Thierry Coopman says:

upgrade the jquery.dimensions JS file to reenable drag and drip widgets.

the version shipped 1.0b2 and gives a Type error in the Admin interface

Version 1.2 can be found at
    http://plugins.jquery.com/project/dimensions

  71. Rafe says:

Hi, I’ve downloaded the plugin for a new site I’m setting up and it looks great. However when you click on an event the popup window displays the wrong day name, but the correct date. There’s also a very very minor jitter the first time you move the mouse over the close icon, but that’s being very pedantic.

Have left an event on the diary for Friday 9th October, but it shows as Thursday 9th October!

  72. Rafe says:

Sorry, forgot to say that I don’t like it displaying the post number as it is meaningless to my readers. Is there a way to disable it?

Many thanks for what looks like a great plugin!

  73. d says:

    hi!

I upgraded the plugin to the newest beta version, and ever since i unfortunatly can’t add an event to the calender. Is that going to be fixed soon? I sure hope so.

  74. Vincesfire says:

    Bonjour,

    Merci

  75. Kurt Wood says:

Cannot access edit buttons for publishing status, visibility or timestamp. I disabled the plugin and these worked again. I am going to have to look for a different calendar plugin.

Sorry, I really liked your plugin except for this snafoo.

  76. hakre says:

My 2.8.4 Report: This Plugin does not work in multiple areas making it unuseable. The Bugs I discovered so far:

    - Javascript: Overall. It is not properly integrated. I assume an incompatible version of the jquery tools.
    - Javascript: Calendar controll was not displayed on first usage.
    - Javascript: Post Editing screen does not work any longer as long as javascript is turned on (this renders wordpress useless). IMHO It’s a shame that this has not been properly tested.
    - Workflow: When decided to create a new post with the calendar entry, the calendar entry is not created.

I suggest next to the calendar display to display a list of invents you can browse. This is what other event plugins have as well and I think this is pretty usefull to navigate through dates and to DEBUG stuff, if you want to have beta-testers (as you state).

Additionally I suggest that linking a post with one (or more?) events should be made simpler, e.g. with an ajax’ed control (for the post ID) or by adding existing dates on the post edit screen (backend widget).

That’s my feedback so far, good luck for the project. Do you have SVN access to provide patches?

Any idea on the arrival of a fix? Even when I uninstalled and went back to previous version, I’m left with many of the problems from 6.6. Client likes functionality of this Plugin, so I’m stuck with a buggy all-around WP experience until I can get this updated. Thanks so much for your time.

  80. Ralph Harrer says:

    Hi,
I found an mistake in the german translation:
    File: events-calendar-de_DE.po, line: 64 and 74
The date format is wrong there. It should be “yyyy-mm-dd” not “dd-mm-yyyy”.
    Best regards,
    Ralph Harrer

  81. Josh Max says:

    Found a bug.

When trying to “Mass Activate” in WPMU 2.8.4 with a plug-in like Plugin Commander or Plugin Manager, you receive the following error:

“Error activating events-calendar/events-calendar.php for blog id=[the blog ID]:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for update_option(), called in [the directory]\wp-content\plugins\events-calendar\ec_db.class.php on line 211 and defined in [the directory]\wp-includes\functions.php on line 499″

    Well, line 499 of functions.php requires update_option() to have to options with it, like so: update_option($option_name, $newvalue);

    Line 211 of ec_db.class.php looks like this: update_option(‘widgetEventsCalendar’);

On line 200 of ec_db.class.php, there is another update_option() called with the values of (‘optionsEventsCalendar’, $options); so to fix my problem all I had to do was add the second value on 211 to include the $widget_options .

Final edit for line 211 of ec_db.class.php looks like this:
    update_option(‘widgetEventsCalendar’, $widget_options);

After that, it mass activated perfectly. I’m pretty sure that editing that won’t cause an issue, but if I come across one I’ll be sure to let you know.

    Thanks for the plugin!
    -Josh

PS – I, too, have not been able to get any date/time pickers to work in the ‘add event’ area. Would be nice to have working for my users.

  82. Freek Edeling says:

Since the WordPress 2.8.5 update Events-calendar gives an error:

“Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.domain.nl/site/wp-admin/admin.php?page=events-calendar

    Operation aborted”

Is there anyone else with the same problem?

  83. John says:

Developer: I really appreciate your work. This plugin fills a needing gap for many uf us. It was sad about your bad luck with your computer, hope you have recovered as much as possible.
It seems as it is possible to sum up the bugs in 6.6 this way:
    1. There is a js-error replacing images sitewide with the loading.gif. By removing one line of js this was fixed.
    2. The datepicker doesn’t work, dates has to be added manually.
    3. The widgets get frozen, not possible to add new widgets.
    4. Not possible to add tags to posts.

The bugs seems to be related to the WP-GUI connection, somehow.

Further: Will a recurring scheduler be included in the future?

All the best, we are waiting for the bug fixes. Thank you for an excellent product!

  84. Phil says:

the work around at the moment seems to remove the loading.gif from the ec_js.class.php file, most importantly the last one that does the preloading. Great work!
    Cheers,
    Phil

  85. danny says:

I had the old plugin and now all I see is events coming soon stay tuned. I have deactivated, updated, removed and installed but I have the same message on my home page and when I try to click on the events calendar plugin button it says the events calendar page does not exist, but I can see the event calendar in the background behind the error message button

  86. byboleymar says:

    Hi,

I test your beta version.. many bug for my web site.

First at the installation, installation complete but I can see in my apache log :

I can’t use the calendar in the widget, just the event. If I use the calendar, I have the same probleme at all : all pictures in my website appears with this icon : loading.gif !

Please don’t publish beta version. Just stable version.

i tried this plugin and it worked great for one day, the next day the script had in issue on its own and gave some server side error message, strange
    anyone get an error also?

  89. Danny says:

When I add an event with an out link. When you click on the event in the calendar the event post is not shown but it goes to the out link? Why is that?

  90. Les says:

Hi, thanks for your work. I love the event calendar but am new to wordpress. Is there a reason that entries each have hovers that also display the html? So for example, the day/date is bold so when you hover over it you can see the html Thursday, November x.

  91. D Curtis says:

I was attempting to use the plugin and found that it doesn’t allow you to edit. I’ve tried a few time and it’s not behaving properly. Thanks for your time in working on this though.

  93. Michael says:

FYI, Loaded 6.6 and it hosed all the images. Uninstalled and they all came back. I am using Nex-Gen Gallery v1.4.1 Bummer. I loved the calendar idea. Oh well.

  94. xuzhin says:

sorry but, how exactly do you place the large calendar view into a page?

  95. xuzhin says:

i created a supposedly large calendar using:

    [[EventsCalendarLarge]]

but on my page it looks like:

    jocel yn.de/we themein you/?page_id=3

but it’s supposed to look like this:

    http://s.wordpress.org/extend/plugins/events-calendar/screenshot-6.jpg?r=173678

  96. Iwan says:

So, after more as 2 months there is still no answer at all to these major bugs. I’m quite dissapoited to find out disadvantages to open source software about which, until now, I was very enthousiastic. No offence to the developer, I see his problems, but it just brings dangers of using great plugins like these to the surface.

  97. Gothic Goddess says:

Issue #34 and #40 have NOT been fixed. For #34, I only was able to get the correct time with the European/military time system of 24 hour clock. As for the title that has a ‘ or “, it still has not been fixed. I inadvertently used quotation marks, and then my event didn’t show up in the calendar edit, and I can’t remove it now! Only the related post. That is NOT good! How can that be resolved please? Now I have an incorrect posting I can’t get rid of because it is phantom in the edit!

    Thx,

    Gothic Goddess

  98. Jake says:

Does anyone bug test these ‘betas’? It totally broke all images on the sidebar for me, the JS has conflicts, widgets are no longer functioning as they should. IMHO someone should bug test that it actually works out of the box before doing a new release, regardless of ‘beta’ branding.

Really disappointed with this release, rolling back, hope it work, or just getting rid of it.

  99. Álvaro Degives-Más says:

Frankly I’m sadly disappointed too: the beta works fine for us. No problems. I mean, what kind of beta testing is it when we don’t run into any serious issues! ;-)

Seriously, I love EC 6.6: very well done.

It runs fine on our current WP install (v2.8.6 now) and the only thing I’ve spent some more time on, is on styling. Which is done in the stylesheet, plain and simple. Anyone who knows what CSS is, can solve the odd cropping up theming issues. If I can make a suggestion: allow for the calendar’s CSS files to be dropped in the theme folder, and read from there if they exist there, so the thing can survive upgrades. But it works now, and it’s a beta.

So I guess I have to apologize for not being able to produce any substantial bugs…

Ah – one comment: it doesn’t make coffee (yet) and more seriously, I do eagerly look forward to an RSS feed for the event list widget… That’d be really awesome.

    Thanks again!

  100. Simon says:

    Ah hey guys.
I’m using your tool – it actually could be amazing if it would be working properly:
    - widget function isn’t working
    - the months in the widget disappear… :(
please try your best to provide a stable version. this script is really important to me, cause there is no other one like this.

  101. Dominique Stender says:

The 6.6-beta has an issue with double quotes. You escape single quotes nicely but not double quotes. Since all options you provide force registration with password, I won’t go through that.

You might want to consider changing your quote detection to preg_match(‘/(\’|”)/’, …).
    I found varying checks in ec_js.class.php, ec_calendar.class.php and ec_managamentjs.class.js

Please consider to make reporting bugs a little easier for the community. In the end everyone will profit from it. No offense.

Best regards and thanks for the really great plugin.
    Dominique

Just thought I’d mention another bug. Event Calendar 6.6 Beta causes problem with Dashboard’s Screen Options function in WordPress 2.8.6. Works fine by going back to version 6.5.2.1. Thanks.

  103. Lillith Kane says:

I can’t activate the darn thing! It keeps giving me an error message. I mean I’ve got 2.8.4!

“Error 500 – Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.”

    And later it doesn’t work.

  104. Shane says:

If anyone out there is having image problems still, as in the images being broken just open ec_js.class.php inside the plugin folder events calendar and change line 309 from

    jQuery(“img”).attr(“src”, arguments[i]);

    to

    jQuery(“.events-calendar img”).attr(“src”, arguments[i]);

Im also experiencing a similar problem as Freek.

This is a good plugin. I have some queries which you find helpful.

    1. I want to set the category under which all post goes can you develop a such option in admin to set once the category under which all event posts goes.

    2. As I upgrade to 6.6 my drag and drop functionality suddenly stopped on widget page.

Look to hear soon from you.

  114. Joseph says:

fyi, a change in WP 2.9.1 seems to introduce an incompatibility with this plugin.

  115. Florian says:

i discovered several problems in the backend of wp 2.9.1 while editing tags, status, publish-date etc. of posts – it didn´t work in firefox 3.5.7.
i found following solution for this problem: edit “events-calendar.php”, go to function EventsCalendarINIT() and add here as first line:
    $svr_uri = $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];

this hotfix prevents the events-calendar from loading the incompatible jquery-libs in backend…

  116. Dave says:

Hi guys! Love the plugin but it´s not working at all on 2.9.1, cant add the widget but can add events. You guys making a update mabye, I do hope so!!

    Hello,

I’m german and can’t speak good english (a answer in german language would good for anderstanding). My event calendar has a big mistake. He generated and show a date 1.1.1970. How can I clear this date in the event calendar? Must I step from Months to Months and Year ti Year? I’d find a short form for cleaning this wrong date. Please, You can help me?

  119. Iwan says:

I hate to say this but I think this plugin is not performing as expected at all. Since the 6.6 Beta it’s from bad to worse with a long list of know problems and no updates or development. I would strongely suggest not to use this plugin since it cases major problems in WP 2.8 and 2.9.1. For me the old 6.5 still works ok, maybe that’s a good replacement. I know the idea of a beta is to develop, and maybe I am missing something, but I don’t see any activities anymore…

  120. rodries says:

this plugin is not finished, I’ve fixed a lot of bugs.
This version is more stable, but it isn’t free of bugs

  121. Jens says:

    Hello!

Which version should I use, if I have WordPress 2.9.1 installed?

  122. Álvaro Degives-Más says:

Jens, at this point Rodries’ version (see right above your post) is probably your best bet as it has fixed a number of annoying issues that have crept up incrementally with new WP releases, post-2.8.x (i.e. with 2.9.x). It’s unfortunate that EC development is in a holding pattern now due to a variety of causes, but once it takes off again undoubtedly it’ll have a load of fixes and improvements. FYI we’re using the version Rodries has patched. By the way: many thanks Rodries! Much appreciated.

  123. Diana says:

WORTHLESS!!! I drag it to my sidebar and it will not save. It keeps popping back to unused widgets. WASTE OF TIME.

  124. ails says:

First of thank you for the work you have put in to this plugin. I’m using the beta, my widgets don’t work, I don’t seem to have the drop down option of months and years instead I have to scroll through all the months to get the month or year I require. Also the events calendar doesn’t allow me to edit dates on my posts and pages and I’ve noticed recently that my events are missing so I’m having to enter them all over again.

    thanks in advance

  125. Hayden says:

We are using your plugin for multiple clients. We are having trouble with IE 8. In the admin section, everything below the calendar is not showing. We are using 6.6-beta. I’ve tried deactivating other plugins thinking that other plugins were affecting this but still didn’t work. We are also using WordPress version 2.8.4. Thanks,

  126. Jessica Lowe says:

Re: version 6.6 of the EVENTS CALENDAR: I’m sorry, but I wish I hadn’t upgraded. Here’s why (an excerpt from an email from the web guy who’s helping with my website):

The new version of the calendar plug in appears to function a bit differently to how it used to. The default view now is not of a calendar but a list of the upcoming events. (The calendar view looked much better). However, now when it’s switched it back to calendar view, the date is no longer marked in red when an event is on (so no one would know).

Would you be able to change these things back to how they were, or should I revert to the old version??

    Thanks, J. Lowe

  127. Álvaro Degives-Más says:

Jessica, try Rodries’ version. We’re running WP 2.9.2 with it, and the mini calendar widget shows dates with events in red. If I recall correctly, that also was the case with the “regular” 6.6 beta, but sadly that has a slew of issues (most notoriously the “loading image” issue, substituting all images) that are at least fixed in Rodries’ improved version.
